About Me

Hey! I’m Melissa, your edible garden designer, installer, and let’s-make-it-happen cheerleader. Helping you enjoy fresh food right out your door is why I’m here. It’s my honor to come alongside you to develop a plan that meets your needs - whether that’s a dedicated veggie garden or edibles integrated right into your landscape.

When I’m not working on your garden, I’m in my own, probably with my kids. The older ones are great helpers, and the two-year-old is theoretically a great weed-puller (so far, I’ve only seen the little stinker pull up my veggies). My husband is a Jack-of-all-trades and works with me on installations and projects that require construction, such as raised beds, garden enclosures and pavers. Our family of five lives on a half-acre backing up to Edenbrook Conservation Area in Eden Prairie, MN. “Rustic Hills” is a park bordering the conservation area that we love to hike to. This marsh and its trails, wildflowers and adventures are the inspiration behind my business name.

As a University of Minnesota Master Gardener for Hennepin County and a garden enthusiast, I am passionate about building on my knowledge through continuing education and volunteer opportunities. The Rustic Hills Garden Co. support team includes professionals in hardscaping and horticulture, whom we consult with on projects as needed. As it so happens, these talented friends also live in our beloved “Rustic Hills” area.

Go ahead and fill out the contact form if you’d like to brainstorm with me! I’d love to help you come up with a plan and make it happen!
